Cambridge to King's Lynn - 4 August (night ride)

Ride Leader Claire says:

Gown to Crown: 120km / 80 miles, elevation ~300m.

Mostly quiet roads winding our way out of collegiate Cambridge, through Ely to our midpoint cafe stop at Welney Wetlands Centre around 4am. There is a small amount of off-road track on the route and good front lights are needed.

After refreshments, it’s back below sea level to see the sunrise across big skies and horizon stretching views. After Georgian Wisbech, we turn towards our breakfast destination on the quayside in King’s Lynn, via the ferry crossing.

Note that for the ferry crossing, on the West Lynn side, there's a jetty and you need to be able to lift your bike and step down onto the boat. On the King's Lynn side, there is a short but steep, sometimes slippery, set of steps up to the street. There will be an alternative route round to King's Lynn for anyone who may find this tricky (including those on recumbents or tandems) or indeed, gets seasick.

Please let us know on the registration form if you would like to use the alternative route.

Our half way stop has a minimum number of people it will cater for, so we ask for non-refundable pre-payment of £10. For this you will get hot drinks, cake and sandwiches. A vegan option is available.

To pay follow these instructions

There will likely be a small peloton heading back to Ely (and beyond) for those who’d like to extend their ride to about 180km. Handy for a century ride!
