The Edinburgh to London 'Challenge' Tour - 19-26 June

Ride leaders Tim, Titus and Ross say:

Most of The Fridays’ rides start from London. So we thought it would be a good idea to do one in reverse. Only with a difference - a week long challenge ride.  And then Covid scuppered that plan.   But the good news is that we’ll be going ahead with the ride in 2022.  It’s called the Edinburgh to London Challenge tour.

The plan is to roll out from Edinburgh Castle on the morning of Sunday 19th June, aiming to arrive at Buckingham Palace in London early afternoon on Sunday 26th June.  And we may even throw in a sightseeing tour of Edinburgh the night before we start the tour proper. By bicycle of course.

Just like the regular Fridays tour, but with longer daily distances (we’re likely to be doing around 60-70 miles average per day, with a couple of 80 mile days) and probably a few more hills on some days, including a climb over the Pennines. It’s not called the challenge tour for nothing!

As with the legendary LonJog in 2012, riders will be responsible for booking their own accommodation along the way. Don’t worry though, we’ll provide a list of destination towns and there will be plenty of options in each place. And like a regular tour, you’ll be expected to carry your own luggage.

Needless to say, you’ll need to make your own way to the rendezvous in Edinburgh, but there are a variety of options for getting there.

Depending on the level of travelling support we opt for, there will be a cost associated with the ride. We won’t know exactly what that is until we start to firm up the arrangements, but it’s not going to be much - just enough to cover recce expenses etc.

And we have a plan to try and meet up with the genteel tour on the Saturday evening for a ‘big party’ the night before our triumphant roll into London.

This ride is now full.
