Round Ireland with a bike - The Fridays Tour 2019
Following the success of the the French Leave tour in 2018, we’ve turned our sights onto the 2019 tour. And we’re going to try something different. We’ll be going to Ireland.
The dates are Saturday 22nd to Saturday 29th June 2019.
It’s going to be a circular tour, alternating day rides where we start and finish at the same place, and transit rides where we ride to a different overnight stop.
Broadly speaking, the itinerary will be:
22 June Travel to Dublin,
23 June Day ride – possibly coastal and determined on recce
24 June To Naas or Brittas or Newbridge for accommodation over 2 nights – none of these are a huge distance (30-50k), but a longer ride will be determined on recce
25 June Day ride – determined on recce
26 June To Tullamore or Port Laoise (82k) for accommodation for 1 night
27 June To Mullingar (again, not far directly, but would determine a longer ride on recce) for accommodation for 1 night
28 June To Enfield along Grand Canal (35k, or longer ride to be determined) for accommodation for 1 night
29 June Return to Dublin
As far as getting to and from Ireland, Stena Line has a sailing from Holyhead to Dublin. It’s also possible to fly to Dublin with your bike in a box. This may appeal to some people.
Planning is advancing well, so if you haven't already expressed an interest in the tour and would like more details, please get in touch.
